Great Ending Productions is a UK entertainment company founded in 1997. It is best known for its Inspector Spacetime-related audio adventures. It also produces original audio adventure serials based on a number of other franchises, such as Jake's Eleven, Gold & Lead, The Yesterday Folk, Solar Pons, and Galaxy Quest.

Inspector Spacetime Audio Plays[]

After years of circulating underground bootleg tapes of illicit Inspector Spacetime adventures, Great Ending was formally incorporated in 1997 with audio adaptations of novels featuring the Eighth Inspector's former companion Fitzwilliam Fort. BTV subsequently granted it a license to produce authorised Inspector Spacetime audio plays on compact disc.

Currently, Great Ending produces a series of Inspector Spacetime adventures in a four thirty-minute episode format, similar to the format of the classic TV serials. These stories feature the Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth Inspectors, as well as special associates Georgina "George" Liddell, Mmm'Fash't'ஐ'lan'zac, and Jimmy McSporran. These are all considered to be non-canon but part of expanded universe.

Apart from the special multi-Inspector The Mirror Cracked epic audio adventure, Great Ending does not produce any audio stories featuring the Ninth, Tenth, Eleventh, or Twelfth Inspectors, or their related associates, even if they are no longer featured in the TV series, since BTV is sitting on those rights. Also, the Time Wave cannot be included in any of Great Ending's Inspector Spacetime audio stories for the same reason. Nonetheless, the Great Ending producers still try to sneak in veiled allusions and in-jokes, including references to the "Time Cave-in" and the "Crime Rave".

Trivia[]

  • Steve Carell touched off a huge debate among Inspectrum fans about the canonicity of the above-mentioned special associates when he ad-libbed a lengthy, tear-jerking farewell toast to them as the Eighth Inspector was transformed into the Unknown Inspector in the special webisode "The Twilight of the Inspector".
