David P. Russell is the man who brought back Inspector Spacetime to the television screen in 2004. He was both its head writer and executive producer until the end of the Tenth Inspector's run. During that time, he also created two spin-offs: Peacemist: Nicer Post and The Mary Sue Predicaments. He was succeeded by Stefan Toffat.

BiographyEdit

Russell's first major success was the BTV space opera serial Bright Cycle, which contained strong similarities to Inspector Spacetime. Russell also created the award-winning Straight as an Arrow (which includes several allusions to the Inspectrum). He did not get on well with Inspector Spacetime series creator Sir Anthony Bonham Pease‎‎ and finally parted company with the programme in 2008.
